Enhancing PML’s environment through landscaping
How about helping the environment and saving money at the same time! Here are real stories from my clients’ properties:
- Owner of property along Big Creek asks to have all needles removed from property. Needles on property are only about one to two inches deep. I inform client that this will cause erosion and lead to sediment deposition in creek. Since all trees are pruned up I recommend he only remove needles from 30 feet around his home as per CalFire. This saves him two hours of labor.
- Owner of property on south side of PML lake wishes to have all leaves removed from around home and hauled away. The leaves are Black Oak leaves, excellent for mulch. Recommend moving leaves to back of property, fully soaking and covering with a tarp. This saves client the hauling fee.
- Owner of property near airport has 400 square feet of juniper in front of house. Client knows it needs to be removed due to the fire hazard but does not have the money to plant new shrubs. Recommend juniper removal and transplanting native cedar saplings from another client’s property to his property. This saves him the cost of purchasing plants from nursery.
